El conjunto blanquiazul se impuso este sábado por 2-1 a la UD Almería en el partido de vuelta de la final del playoff de ascenso, disputado en el UD Almería Stadium, y selló su regreso a la élite del fútbol español. Tras el empate sin goles cosechado en la ida en La Rosaleda, el equipo dirigido por Juanfran Funes estaba obligado a ganar en territorio almeriense para lograr el objetivo, y respondió con una victoria que desata la euforia malaguista.
El triunfo tuvo épica hasta el último minuto. El Almería, que partía con la ventaja de que el empate global le bastaba por su mejor clasificación en la fase regular, se adelantó y obligó al Málaga a remontar un escenario adverso. Con este ascenso, el Málaga CF pone fin a su etapa en la categoría de plata y recupera la condición de equipo de Primera División, una meta perseguida durante toda una temporada que culmina de la forma más vibrante posible: ganando a domicilio en el partido decisivo y arrebatando el billete a un rival directo. La afición, dentro y fuera del estadio, ya celebra el regreso del club a la máxima competición del fútbol nacional.

After a goalless draw in the first leg at La Rosaleda, the team managed by Juanfran Funes needed a win on Almería’s ground to achieve their goal, and they delivered a victory that has sparked wild celebrations among Málaga supporters.
The triumph carried drama right to the final minute. Almería, who held the advantage of an aggregate draw being enough thanks to their better regular-season position, took the lead and forced Málaga to overturn an unfavourable scenario. Incidents on the arrival of the Málaga CF team bus, with several windows broken and police charges around the stadium, forced the kick-off to be pushed back by half an hour, with the match eventually starting at 9:30 pm.
With this promotion, Málaga CF bring their spell in the second division to an end and reclaim their status as a top-flight club, a goal pursued throughout an entire season that ends in the most thrilling way possible: winning away from home in the decisive match and snatching the promotion ticket from a direct rival. The supporters, both inside and outside the stadium, are already celebrating the club’s return to the highest level of Spanish football.
